Kevin—After God’s Own Heart

Before little Kevin Baker knew himself, God set him on a path that would forever change his life and leave a mark that would remind him of the deliverance and power of the Lord, Jesus Christ. His amazing journey and conquering of adversity began early, while in the womb of his mother. She believed and had faith; therefore, the reassurance of God’s healing power was revealed.

“About six months into my pregnancy my husband and I found out there was a hole in our son’s heart and the great arteries were transposed with a severe narrowing present in one of the arteries. Basically, the way the blood circulates through the body is changed and there is a shortage of oxygen in the blood flowing from the heart to the rest of the body.

The doctors were speculating that these were the only problems because just about each time we went for a cardiology appointment, the Lord had it so my baby would be spine up instead of belly up for them to see the front of his chest. The doctors kept telling us we wouldn’t know if there were any other defects until he was born, and that the hole in his heart was actually helping to keep him alive in the womb. The Lord put the hole in his heart and made it sustain him until he was born, and the Man of God made us see how awesome the Lord was in doing so. I had no choice but to depend on God to keep my child every time he went under the knife.

Ultimately, there were about seven heart defects present when he was born and he had to have one open heart surgery, two minor heart surgeries and a diaphragm surgery. The Lord, Jesus Christ, kept my child while his body was cooled to eighteen degrees Celsius,

He kept him while a surgeon worked on his tiny little heart which was about the size of a grape and veins as small as threads,

He kept him while his heart stopped on the operating table,

He kept him when we couldn’t even hear him cry because his left vocal cord was damaged from surgery,

He kept him while another child having heart surgery passed away on the operating table.

Through it all, Jesus kept him.

Seven years later, Kevin is thriving and growing. I know with an assurance that there is a God, His name is Jesus and He is a HEALER.
