If only for one soul
All it took was one phone call from a dislocated sheep in Dallas for Apostle Anthonee to establish the Church’s temple at 3700 Carl Street in Dallas. For years, many souls were languishing under Deacon Varay Bush, not knowing the truth of the Gospel. As he has done faithfully throughout his ministry, Apostle Anthonee has traveled the country gleaning for souls who have left the Church and grafting those in who seek salvation. That was the case for souls in Dallas.
During the latter years, Bishop S. McDowell Shelton purchased a location on Second Avenue, not far from the Church’s current location. Unfortunately, due to the expansion of the Dallas Fair Grounds this edifice was purchased by the city. Due to the loss of the Dallas temple, at the time, Deacon Varay Bush was the brother in charge of the Dallas assembly, found another building. Rather than following the directive to find a new edifice for the saints for the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, he established his own branch of an Apostolic church—seceding from the whole truth under Bishop Shelton (Jeremiah 23:1). Some of the members followed Deacon Bush, while others dispersed all over the Dallas area.
Year after year, many of God’s scattered sheep searched for something more—an edifying voice. However, other so-called Apostles of God refused to answer the call. But God knows His sheep (John 10:27). Apostle Anthonee visited Bush’s assembly and preached. After this encounter, a saint from Bush’s congregation made one last call and plea to Apostle Anthonee inquiring him to visit Dallas once again—the rest was united. From the phone call, to the visit, Apostle Anthonee made provisions for approximately six souls to worship together under his leadership. Over the years, the Dallas Church has grown substantially.
Apostle Anthonee has an unquenchable zeal for God and this gives him the fortitude and determination to make provisions for anyone who seeks salvation—even if it’s for one soul (John 10:16).
