The Church preserved the children of Israel in the wilderness; as they journeyed from bondage to freedom. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is the same church that begin the salvation plan for all people starting at Jerusalem bringing men from darkness to light.
We preach and practice the faith and doctrine given to the Apostles chosen by Jesus Christ to make known and declare this plan to all men.

The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith was established 100 years ago by Bishop Sherrod C. Johnson. 2019 marks our Centennial Celebration, and we will host a number of community events to commemorate this monumental milestone in the Apostolic Faith. Since that time, we have continued steadfast in the Apostles’ Doctrine, following the teachings of the Apostles as referenced in Acts 2:40-42.
Today, the Church is led by Bishop Anthoneé J. Patterson, who is traveling around the world continuing to spread the good news of the Gospel. Under his leadership, the Church has flourished with the knowledge of the scriptures and the salvation we find within them. While keeping our foundation strong, he continues to build the congregation’s faith as saints. Also a gifted musician, Bishop Patterson’s love of God-filled music is central to sharing the power of God’s word.
There is much in which you can become involved. First and foremost, we invite you to share in the fullness of our joy and love for Christ Jesus by receiving the New Birth. From our Youth Department to our community outreach projects to women’s work, we welcome your involvement and support.

We cannot be who we are today without the foundational leadership of Bishop S.C. Johnson. Bishop Johnson was the first to shape the soul-saving foundation of the principles of the doctrine—the God-given directive for all people to be the baptism in the name of Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38. Bishop Johnson’s ministry was characterized by his fervent passion for spreading the gospel for which God had shown him. He established more than 88 churches around the United States. He was so confident in his knowledge of the Apostle’s Faith and the plan of salvation, he challenged and debated countless religious leaders to prove him wrong. In fact, his reward of $500,000 to anyone who could find fault in the Apostle’s Doctrine remains unclaimed.
The Apostolic Faith, the true gospel of Jesus Christ, was furthered by Bishop S. McDowell Shelton who elevated the church through the power of meditation and the uplifting strength of song. During his tenure, he continued to increase church membership in the United States and abroad. A charismatic man of God, Bishop Shelton was a well-known religious and community leader throughout Philadelphia. A gifted musician, he preached the Word of God and established the churches in cities and countries near and far. He increased the number of churches to more than 100 from 1961 to 1991.
After 30 years of preaching, Bishop Shelton was laid to rest and succeeded by Bishop Nehemiah, the secretary general of the church at the time before he was called to lead the ministry. Though short in the number of years he led the church, 1991-1995, Bishop Nehemiah was a man of God who made it abundantly clear that the remnant of God were the crown jewels of the heavenly host.
